Nettle and Lemon Iced Tea
Iced tea is a lovely refreshing drink but shop-bought versions are usually packed full of unnecessary sugars or sweeteners and caffeine. This super simple homemade version allows you to control what’s in your iced tea and is so much cheaper! Plus you can pick which herbal tea to use to create a therapeutic blend to suit your needs.
In this recipe I’m using nettle - because it’s high in quercetin so great for those suffering from hayfever - read more natural hayfever remedies in this blog post. I’ve combined it with lemon for added flavour and if you really want a little sweetness try adding some local honey which again can help if you’re struggling with hayfever.
Ingredients
4 nettle tea bags
2 unwaxed lemons (sliced)
1L filtered water
1 tsp honey (optional)
Method:
1. Brew tea bags in 1L of boiled water, this can be done in a teapot or a pan - just something you can cover with a lid. Add the lemon slices, cover and leave to brew and cool. This takea about 1 hour, but you could put it in the fridge to cool it quicker if you want.
2. Serve over ice, option add honey and fresh mint with fresh lemon slices.
